Pedro Gómez joins forces with 404 Studio, a fashion brand born and established in Valencia, making two exclusive down jackets designed especially for the “I don’t have any tears” collection, inspired by the quinqui culture of transitional Spain and which was presented at the 31st edition of the 080 Barcelona Fashion Week last May.
With its collection 404 Studio wants to elevate our lowlife culture through the use of noble materials such as Swarovski crystal or cotton and give it a leading place. In this time of deep unrest and social instability of the 70’s and 80’s, the quinqui culture was the counterculture to the famous Movida Madrileña, which, if praised by its contemporaries, was not like the quinqui culture, commonly isolated and denigrated.
Referencing the filmography of Eloy de la Iglesia, among which are the iconic “Navajeros”, “Colegas”, “La estanquera de Vallecas” or “El Pico”, with this collection the brand alludes to the famous Rumba tres song – You have no tears left – and together with it he delves into the atmosphere of this time with characters like “El Jaro” and “Las Grecas”.
Tailoring is used to represent the character of Enrique San Francisco and distressed denim as a nod to “El Jaro” and “Vaquilla”. New fibers such as mohair are introduced with cuts and shapes that remind us of lingerie, with the aim of paying tribute to the Mexican Isela Vega.
The handmade crochet flowers, present in different forms throughout the collection, worked with the same material with which Manila shawls are created, are used as a tribute and in memory of Antonio and Lola Flores.
404 Studio’s approach is based on seeking uniqueness and reinventing tradition through a contemporary vision, taking this interpretation around the world. The entire concept goes far beyond a mere fashion brand, being considered as a creation laboratory, collaborating regularly with Spanish artists and artisans.
So far, the brand has walked on national and international catwalks such as Los Angeles Fashion Week, London Fashion Week or Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Madrid, in the latter being the winner of the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Talent award for the September 2021 edition. made private presentations at the renowned Club Silencio in Paris or Soho House Barcelona.
